Out of respect for our neighbors, please keep parties and gatherings of any kind limited to the guests staying in the rental. Please abide by our community's quiet hours.

No smoking

To ensure a comfortable environment for all guests, smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere inside or on the premises. Please help us maintain our properties' environment by following this.

No pets

As much as we love animals, we regret that pets are not permitted on the property. This rule ensures a hypoallergenic environment for all guests and helps us maintain our high standard of cleanliness.

No outside visitors or overnight guests without prior approval from your host.

To maintain security and the comfort of registered guests, outside visitors are not permitted to stay overnight without prior approval.

Do not engage in any illegal activity anywhere on the property.

For the safety and security of everyone, engaging in illegal activities, such as drug use, underage drinking and other criminal behavior, is strictly prohibited on the premises.

Please do not break or damage anything.

Accidents happen! If any items are accidentally damaged during your stay, please inform us promptly so that we can assess the damage and arrange for repair or replacement. Guests are responsible for covering the costs associated with any damages.

Quiet hours are between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Please observe quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. During this time, please keep noise levels low and remove any music or noise playing outside. We appreciate your cooperation in respecting our neighbors' need for rest.

Do not leave any food out.

To prevent pests such as ants and rodents, please refrain from leaving food or food waste uncovered or unsealed. This helps us maintain a clean and pest-free environment for everyone.

Is the dock private? Does it have a permit for a slip?

Yes, the dock on the property is private and for your use only! There is a slip to keep your boat in the water if you choose during your stay. And space for any paddleboards or kayaks. You can also store any kayaks, paddleboards or other water toys in the garage as well.

Is there a boat launch nearby? Gas?

The closest boat launches are located here:

What are the boat usage rules on the lake?

Iowa Great Lakes Water Safety Council has boating laws and regulations you must follow when on the water. Please make yourself aware of signs, markers, rules and legal requirements of boating in Iowa.

Do you have any kayaks or paddleboards?

Unfortunately, we do not have any paddleboards or kayaks at this time, but you are more than welcome to bring your own! You can tie them to the dock or store them in the garage if you choose.

Can we use the lake for swimming, fishing and boating?

Yes, the lake can be used for all those activities! Please abide by the rules and regulations when doing so.

Are there any community rules or regulations to follow?

Please abide by our community guidelines listed in our House Rules. Any follow-up questions can be answered by email or through our Contact Us form.

Are animals or pets allowed on the property?

Unfortunately, no pets are allowed on the premises. This rule ensures a hypoallergenic environment for all guests and helps us maintain our high standard of cleanliness.

Will there be an additional cleaning, trash or parking fee?

No! Unlike other rentals, we build our cleaning fee in with our nightly rate. We do not charge our guests to park in the driveway and we also do not charge a fee for trash.

In the event that an item is damaged or requires more cleaning than is generally needed we reserve the right to charge an additional fee for broken or damaged items. We understand accidents happen! So please let us know at your earliest convenience when something like this occurs and we will do our best to work with you as some items do not need to be replaced.

What is the security deposit amount required to reserve the stay?

Generally, we require at least 50% of your total payment upfront but there are some unique scenarios where it can be different, such as for longer-stay guests. Then the remaining amount would be provided to us before you arrive for your stay.

  • Example: If you are staying for four nights, we would require at least two nights' payment to reserve your stay.

We require a request of cancellation at least one week before your arrival date to receive a refund of your deposit. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.

We understand life events occur and unforeseen emergencies happen so please keep us in the loop, and we will try to be as accommodating as we can when handling a cancellation due to an unforeseen event.

How do we check in and out?

Lucky for you, we are a keyless property! We will provide you with a personalized code to enter the homes and garage upon your arrival that will deactivate after your stay.

In addition to the access code, we will also provide you with a welcome package upon your arrival.

  • Checkout instructions will be listed there as well as a tangible copy inside the main house! Any questions regarding check-out can be asked through email the contact provided in your welcome email.
Are linens and towels provided, do we need to bring our own?

Yes, both are provided. You can always bring your own since it's good to have extra, and we have a washer and dryer in the guest house!

We have extra lake towels as well for your use; please do not use bath towels to dry off from the lake.

What kind of kitchen appliances are available?

Refrigerator, wine fridge, ice maker, freezer, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, oven and stovetop.
